Cabochon rond en cyanite

Kyanite takes its name from the Greek word kyanos, meaning "dark blue." This distinctive gemstone closely resembles sapphire and is widely used as an alternative, particularly in beads and cabochons. Kyanite generally ranges from blue to green, with traces of chromium and iron responsible for its characteristic color. Notably, kyanite possesses different hardness values depending on crystal direction—a property unique among gemstones. These round cabochons display a translucent medium blue with a soft, milky sheen and have received no treatments.

Notes

Due to kyanite's variable hardness across crystal directions, handle finished cabochons with care during setting. Clean only with warm, soapy water. Do not use ultrasonic cleaners or steam cleaners, as these may damage the stone.
