Bezel Setting Tools Set of 12 In Wood Box-Made In France

A professional-grade set of 12 concave bezel setting punches, made in France and presented in a hinged wood storage box. Designed for finishing bezel and prong settings, each punch works in conjunction with the included punch handle to deliver precise, controlled pressure over delicate stone setting operations. Once a stone is set and prongs are in place, press the concave punch over the setting to push the tips evenly over the stone.
The set covers a wide size range — from 1.0mm to 8.0mm — making it suitable for a broad variety of stone sizes. All punch sizes refer to the outside diameter of the punch. Replacement punches are available for this French-made set; contact Otto Frei directly by phone or email to order replacements.
Before first use, polishing the insides of the punches with a small craytex-style point is recommended. These punches can also be modified for additional techniques. One method, recommended by goldsmith Peter Rowe, involves cutting a slot across the top of the punch with a separating disk, then using an abrasive wheel to lower one side slightly — creating a cutting edge on the untouched side. The modified punch can then be used like a simple cup bur to remove material around the outside of a bezel.
