Description
This set of five double-ended forming stakes gives metalsmiths and jewelers ten different working profiles for shaping sheet metal. Each stake is made from hardened steel with a polished finish. Use them to raise, curve, and shape metal into synclastic forms (domes and bowls that curve the same way in both directions) and anticlastic forms (saddle shapes that curve opposite ways).
Why it's a closeout: These stakes are new old stock that turned up in storage. They have never been used, but they may have some light dust or small specks of surface rust. A quick wipe-down and a light polish should clean them up.
Features
- Two working ends per stake: Each end has a different curve size and shape, so the set of 5 gives you 10 forming surfaces.
- Hardened, polished steel: A smooth, hard surface that keeps marks off your work.
- Hexagonal center section: Clamps securely in a standard bench vise or a stake vise without rolling or slipping. The stakes can also be held in the hand for lighter work.
- Works with soft-faced hammers: Use with a rawhide mallet or a plastic or nylon hammer to move metal without marring it.
Notes
Ideal for: Jewelry making, silversmithing, coppersmithing, sculptural metalwork, and forming cuffs, cups, pendants, and other three-dimensional pieces.
Closeout item: sold as-is.
