Copper gives rose and pink gold alloys their characteristic warm hue, but it also reduces workability — making setting and fabrication more challenging. This Dark Pink Rose Fabrication Rolling Master Alloy is specifically formulated without De-Ox, the additive used in casting alloys to protect the melt during the casting process. While De-Ox serves an important function in casting, it also introduces brittleness that makes the resulting alloy harder to work by hand or with rolling equipment. By omitting De-Ox entirely, this alloy delivers superior malleability and ductility for bench fabrication.
Suitable for alloying with 9K through 18K gold, this master alloy is designed for metalsmiths and jewelers who roll, draw, forge, or fabricate pink and rose gold components. This alloy offers the best workability of all pink alloys in the Otto Frei lineup, making it the preferred choice for fabrication work where ease of forming and finishing matters.
Note that this alloy is distinct from casting alloy 846-150. The only difference between the two is the absence of De-Ox in this formulation. If you are casting, use the casting-specific alloy. If you are fabricating, this is the correct choice.
