Description

A jeweler's workbench is the fixed station where filing, sawing and finishing happen, and the Durston 1928 Hobby (formerly Pro-Lite) Jewelers Workbench is an affordable version for beginner jewelers, combining durability, functionality and value. Built for daily bench tasks, it measures 35.5" wide by 17.75" deep and 38.25" high, and includes practical storage and professional features to keep tools organized and work supported.

It is designed to ship in the smallest profile boxes possible to keep shipping costs down, so the bench arrives completely disassembled and requires complete assembly. Please view the assembly video before purchasing.

Notes

Assembly: The 1928 Hobby requires complete assembly, including the drawers. Plan for several hours. If you are comfortable with detailed assembly projects, completion may be possible in 1–2 hours after laying out the parts and reviewing the instructions (see the assembly video).

construction isn't worth the end result

It arrived in a damaged box, but the pieces seemed intact. I've assembled more than my share of IKEA and similar but this one is by far the worst DIY I've met. There are no pre-drilled holes so get ready for that. The instructions are cryptic but the worst part is that the hardware is imprecise and ultimately I had to uses crazy glue to get the wooden pieces to stay together while I assembled. It's pretty but if I could travel back in time I would not have bought it, I'm guessing it will not wear well over time

Great price, average quality

First off the good. It arrived quickly, no damage to the contents and everything was there. They said it should take an hour to assemble & once done I would say the quality was just OK but when considering the price it was good.
The bad news: extremely poor instructions and nothing was labeled so it took me 7 hours to assemble and I’m very handy. A few of the parts didn’t fit well and required modifications. Overall I’m happy, again because it’s just a hobby for me & the quality/ price factor was good.

Does it come with a bench pin and if not which is compatible?

Yes the Durston 1928 Pro-Lite Workbench includes a bench pin, as pictured. A replacement bench pin would be our small bench pin. It is not unusual to have to slightly modify a bench pin to fit a workbench, as there are more workbench bench pin slot sizes as there are replacement bench pins.
