Product Details

This economical disc cutter set is designed for producing round disks from soft precious metals such as gold or silver up to 20 gauge thick. The set is well made from hardened tool steel with sharp edges and close tolerances, making it a reliable value for jewelers and metalsmiths. How to Use a Disc Cutter

  1. Place the disc cutter on top of a rubber pad for support.
  2. Apply a cutting lubricant, such as Stay Sharp, to lubricate the cutting edges of the punch.
  3. Use a suitable mallet — never a nail-driving hammer. A brass mallet is recommended.
  4. Always support the opposite side of the cutter with a sheet of the same diameter metal you are cutting. This keeps upper and lower parts in alignment and helps minimize material sticking.
  5. Do not exceed the maximum recommended thickness for your disc cutter.
  6. Only cut soft non-ferrous metals such as brass, copper, silver, and gold.
  7. Ensure cutting edges are facing down before use.
  8. To prevent rust, keep the disc cutter lubricated between uses and store in a dry location.
  9. Using a 95 durometer urethane pad is recommended to extend the life of the cutters.
