Formerly branded as the Kerr Electro-Melt, this large-capacity electric melting furnace is now produced under the Ventura-Melt name — the same machine, same Italian manufacturing, and fully interchangeable parts. The Ventura-Melt Maxi represents the final and most reliable generation of this proven furnace design. Otto Frei sold hundreds of the equivalent Kerr Maxi Electro-Melts and received zero requests for spare parts, a testament to their durability.
This is the 3 kilogram (100 troy ounce) gold capacity "Maxi" model, equivalent to the Kerr Electro-Melt model 35224 in 120V. All components are interchangeable with that last-generation Italian-made Kerr unit. The furnace features digital controls with a built-in programmer, allowing precise temperature settings for consistent, repeatable melts — a significant upgrade over earlier manual hi-low controls that required constant monitoring. When used properly, the automatic controls extend element life and make this furnace well-suited for production casting or refining operations.
The Ventura-Melt Maxi reaches 982°C / 1800°F in just 31 minutes and tops out at a maximum of 1100°C / 2012°F. Gold capacity is 3100 g / 100 troy oz.; silver capacity is 2600 g / 83 troy oz.
