Our new Star gold testing needles are called needles for a lack of a better term. Based on a European design, this gold scratching set has genuine gold samples for each karat represented.  Unlike all the other gold test needle sets we sell, these are not just plated tips but the real McCoy.

The Star gold testing needles contain samples of 10K, 14K, 18K, 21K 22K and Fine Silver (999S). 

The Star contains gold samples used with a test stone and acids to compare reactions between the scratch made with the trusted Star sample and the scratch made with the item being tested.  Make your scratch marks on the test stone parallel to each other and then dab your appropriate testing acid across the scratches, observe the reaction and if they are the same, you could draw the conclusion that the scratch made with the item being tested is the same karat as the trusted Star sample scratch. Such is the basis of all scientific conclusions.
