Shipping cost is the last thing anyone wants to discover at checkout. There are two ways to get free standard shipping at Otto Frei, and your cart now shows exactly where you stand on both of them, live, as you shop.
The first path is the standard offer: orders of $250 or more that weigh under 10 lbs ship free within the contiguous U.S. The second is our Free Shipping Specials: individual items that always ship free on their own, no order minimum. The progress banner, explained
Most stores track one number for free shipping. Ours has to track two, because heavy tools change what shipping really costs. So the banner at the top of your cart runs two bars at once.
The top bar follows your order value. It fills red while you are under $250 and tells you the exact dollar amount left to add. Cross the threshold and it turns green.
The bottom bar follows your cart weight. It stays green while you are under 10 lbs and shows your current total, so a heavy addition never sneaks up on you. Go over the limit and the bar turns red, with a note about what pushed you over.
Every change updates both bars instantly: add an item, remove one, bump a quantity, and the numbers recalculate on the spot. When both bars are green at once, the header flips to tell you free shipping is unlocked, and there is nothing else to do. It applies automatically at checkout.
Two ways to ship free
Both paths get you to the same place. The cards below show how each one works.
The standard offer. Any order of $250 or more that weighs under 10 lbs ships free in the contiguous U.S. The banner tracks both numbers for you, so you always know how close you are.
Items with this chip always ship free on their own in the contiguous U.S., no order minimum, and they do not count against the 10 lb weight limit on the $250 offer. Your cart flags them line by line.
The honest fine print
- Hazardous items do not qualify for any free shipping offer. They ship within the U.S. by ground service only, and the banner says so when one is in your cart.
- Oversized items are also excluded from free shipping, and the banner flags those too.
- Both offers cover the contiguous U.S. (lower 48 states) only.
- Pairing Free Shipping Specials with more than 10 lbs of other gear means the rest of the order ships at standard rates. Splitting the order into two can be the cheaper move, and our team is happy to help you decide.

A tip for getting to $250 the smart way
If you are close to the threshold, the fastest route is usually stock you already burn through: saw blades, burs, findings and other consumables.
